San Francisco & Beyond Package Information
Once just a small village on the edge of a sandy peninsula, San Francisco grew up overnight during the rambunctious Gold Rush of 1849. As the 49ers arrived from all over the globe, the city quickly became an international and cosmopolitan center. Although the wild Gold Rush life has been replaced by a more sophisticated lifestyle, San Francisco still boasts a liberal culture and a very diverse citizenry. The result is a relaxed pace, an astonishing choice of restaurants, an interesting and well-traveled population, and the most breathtaking natural setting of any American city.
San Francisco is also blessed with many beautiful sites within a short drive. The Napa and Sonoma valleys just north of San Francisco are the heart of California's wine country and boast rolling hills, vine-planted valleys, gourmet dining, and world class wine. In the Sierra Nevada to the east, the sheer granite cliffs, imposing peaks and thundering waterfalls of the high sierra all make Yosemite National Park one of the most memorable destinations in Northern California. South of San Francisco, along the rugged Pacific shore, are the idyllic coastal towns of Santa Cruz, Monterey and Carmel.
Our San Francisco and Beyond packages are designed for the independent traveler arriving in San Francisco and wanting to visit the city and the surrounding area. The itinerary can be combined in any order and with all or part of the recommended itinerary including extending stays. Additional destinations are also available but the two-day Yosemite tour and three-day LA tour are offered only on weekends.
