Welcome to Wine Country! Sonoma Valley is Your First Stop
Tours of world-renowned wineries, tastings of exceptional vintages, and rolling hills covered with vineyards, open spaces, and charming towns – all are yours to enjoy with California Tours’ Napa and Sonoma Valley vacation package. You can personalize your perfect stay with a variety of hand-picked wineries to choose from, private tours and tastings, and free time for dining, spa visits, and other pleasures.
We’ll start out in the birthplace of the California wine industry, Sonoma Valley. Nestled between the Mayacamas and Sonoma mountains, the “Valley of the Moon” is home to more than 50 wineries. The 17-mile valley – one of 12 distinct wine growing regions in greater Sonoma County — has the right combination of microclimates and soil types for grapes to be grown on hundreds of acres of prime vineyard terrain. Historic Sonoma Plaza is home to the San Francisco Solano Mission (the last Franciscan mission built in California). More than 40 restaurants offer dining options from formal to casual. Tour and taste all day at an assortment of exceptional wineries, with lunch and evening to enjoy as you wish.

Know the Richness of Napa Valley
Nearby Napa Valley provides another full day of tasting and picturesque settings. Napa County has maintained a rustic, agricultural environment where more than 30,000 acres of farmland are preserved from development. The Land Trust of Napa County has preserved another 50,000 acres, protecting the natural diversity and scenic quality of the area to ensure agricultural vitality for generations to come.
The result is a group of wineries that create some of the finest wines in the world. Your day of tasting features an excellent selection of private tours and time to explore. The next day is yours to plan (with our help, if you’d like), and you can take advantage of a host of activities, from hot air balloon rides, a cooking class, a cheese and oyster tasting, hiking, more wine tastings and even performance racing. On the next day, a private sedan returns you to the San Francisco airport.
One of the most unique ways to experience the majesty and grandeur of the Napa Valley is by taking an unforgettable hot air balloon ride. Our optional excursion lifts you high above the valley to experience stunning views from the open balloon basket gliding in the sky. You’ll enjoy the best viewpoints of the natural and man-made beauty of this fertile region.
More than 400 wineries are dotted among the hills of Napa Valley. Although best known as one of the world’s top viticulture districts, Napa Valley is more than tastings and tours. The popular tourist destination also boasts posh hotels, luxurious spas, top-rated restaurants, galleries and boutiques, active hot springs and other natural attractions.

Wine tasting is a highlight of your visit to this fertile region – and our package offers several opportunities to sample the finest. We’ll share multiple private tours and tastings in the Napa and Sonoma Valleys to delight the palates of every wine lover. No two wineries are alike, so we’ll hit a pleasing variety of the top picks from the Napa and Sonoma regions.
Many great wines start off as grapes in a local vineyard. Our tours take you to this starting place – the rolling hills where grapes are grown. The ideal climate, rocky soil, warm sunny days, and seasonal moisture create the perfect environment for growing the luscious grapes that are transformed into some of America’s best wines.
Our winery tours include stops that show how master craftspeople ferment local crops to create world-class wines. While Napa Valley is the better known wine-producing region, California winemaking actually started in nearby Sonoma Valley. You’ll see the best of both worlds, and taste great wine in a wide variety of settings.
Napa Valley grows a number of popular grapes, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, and Zinfandel. One of America’s top wine regions, Napa Valley draws some five million visitors each year who taste its wines and explore its vineyards.
